Lt. General Hanut Singh. MVC, PVSM. Poona Horse, One of India's foremost battlefield and Armour commander Lt. Gen. Hanut Singh, PVSM, MVC - He gallantly led the regiment in the Battle of Basantar in the #IndoPakWar of 1971, for which he was awarded the Mahavir Chakra.
Lt.Gen Hanut Singh, a genius of armored warfare. Underappreciated thanks to his brutal honesty, superior intelligence, and his ability to ruffle feathers. A devoted and committed Soldier. The fierce Rajput warrior and an equally great saint. Gurudev, as he was called, commanded 17 Poona Horse in one of the fiercest Tank Battle ever fought. Regarded as one of the most valorous warriors, his name is well known.
Fondly known as “SAINT SOLDIER”, he was the Commanding Officer of 17 POONA HORSE in 1971 war and under his command 17 POONA HORSE fought Battle of Basantar
