Our Medicine Laureates have made discoveries that have saved countless lives.
In 2015 Tu Youyou was awarded the Nobel Prize for developing a new malarial drug. Not only did she determine how to extract the new drug, artemisinin, from a traditional Chinese medicine, she also tested the new drug on herself to speed up the time needed for development.
Her discovery has led to the survival of millions of people.
We'll soon be announcing this year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine - stay tuned.
