January 21: on this day in 1793 –
After being found guilty of treason by the French National Convention, Louis XVI of France was executed by guillotine.
Even though Louis XVI of France was executed for treason, he did a lot of good for his country.
He granted rights to non-Catholics.
He changed everything when he signed the Edict of Tolerance (also known as the Edict of Versailles).
He supported the American revolution.
He abolished Serfdom.
